In this study, elastomeric fibers of natural rubber latex (NRL)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) blends were successfully fabricated via electrospinning technique. Polymer blend solutions at various proportions of NRL (i.e., high ammonia latex concentrate) and PVA with the addition of Triton X-100 surfactant were prepared and electrospun. The results revealed that the addition of Triton X-100 surfactant in polymer blend solutions could facilitate electrospinning process. Fiber morphologies and the production of micrometer-sized fibers were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The presence of NRL in fibers was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Furthermore, mechanical properties, swelling, and weight loss behaviors of elastomeric fibers were also investigated. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
