We report a carbon-sulfur nanostructure by impregnating sulfur into activated N-doped hollow carbon nanofibers (ANHCNFs) with a high Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area of 608 m(2) g(-1) and a total pore volume of 0.8 cm(3) g(-1). As a cathode, this material with 50 wt% sulfur shows a reversible capacity of 1230 mAh g(-1) and maintains similar to 920 mAh g(-1) after 100 cycles at 0.2 C (1 C = 1675 mA g(-1)). These results show that the ANHCNFs-S could be a superior cathode material for Li-sulfur battery. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
