ZnO-SnO2 nanofibers were fabricated by the electrospinning technique combined with calcination at 600 degrees C. Their structural and morphological properties were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and scanning/transmission electron microscopy, and their photocatalytic activity was investigated by the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) dye by visible light irradiation. UV-vis spectral data were used to estimate the photodegradation efficiency of the metal oxide nanocomposites. All the RhB dye samples were tested for six hours of degradation the highest efficiency being obtained for a molar ratio Sn/Zn of 0.030. (c) 2016 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.
