As a novel functional material, carbon nanofiber has many interesting applications in the chemical industry, material science, and energy storage fields. Chemical vapor dispersion and carbonization polymer nanofibers are the two important routes to synthesize carbon nanofibers. In this minireview, the synthesis mechanisms of carbon nanofibers are illustrated and some novel applications of carbon nanofiber were also summarized.
