Microstructures and Multiferroic Properties of Electrospun BiFeO3 Nanofibers
2019/11/27 21:25:09 admin
In this study, BiFeO3 (BFO) nanofibers were fabricated by electrospinning. Their microstructures and magnetic properties were studied with field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Process parameters are the viscosity of the solution, the applied voltage and tip-to-collector distance. We investigated the correlations between these parameters and the physical properties. The shape of the fibers was controlled by adjusting the viscosity of the solution and the electric field. BFO fibers electro-spun at an electric field of 1.8 kV/cm showed diameters of approximately 200 nm after being calcined at 500 degrees C The calcined BFO nanofibers had a poly-crystalline phase with a perovskite structure and exhibited a weak ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature.
